Gasping

*This is a poem free of rhyme and I really hope you like it as much as I loved penning it. Happy readin’!

Gasping

By Meher Gandhi

Words like volcanoes are trying to burst,
Out of my heart that’s pumping,
Blood and syllables, all the same.
It feels like my only breath is trapped,
In the web of speechlessness and sleeplessness.

I’ve written and erased and written and thrown,
With my fingers trembling,
Under the weight of committing the sin,
Of being unable to let my words live.
The page is gasping,
For the same breath I seek.
The strings are piling up inside me,
With every storm and every rainbow I see,
With every fine particle of sand I walk on,
With every vein of fresh leaf I see,
With every drop of rain that falls,
And every little butterfly I see.

Something is furiously twisting and turning inside me,
Like the dangerously silent whirlwind,
That’s on it’s way to the empty land,
Of unsaid words and empty promises.
The wind hasn’t stopped blowing,
The words never stop flowing,
In this river that flows like my life,
And my life that goes with the wind.

You could probably see the adrenaline rush being reflected in this poem of mine. Trust me, my hands were shaking while typing this because I was so desperate to get my words right in front of me, just the way they felt. It feels great to finally have penned down each and every bit of feeling! Not to mention, this is my first time writing and sharing a poem free of rhyme!

Hello to all the readers and writers out here! I am Meher Gandhi. I am a dreamer and a wanderer, dreaming of a world made of words and wandering in a land of my own scribblings. I am constantly scribbling my reveries and all the secrets I unearth while living, sometimes it’s on paper, most of the times, it’s mental notes. WordPress is a great platform to showcase the art of writing be it on the spot or else. I am loving this work of writing blogs, reading your blogs, commenting on them, receiving the likes, comments and valuable suggestions. It is all so fun! I am a teenager who loves to read and write. I am a positive person and so are my scribblings. If you want to connect with me then, head over to the contact page in the “my pages” section! Would you like to join me in for a walk in my land of scribblings? With love, Meher.

  1. I love the poem. This is a great example of how an amazing poem can be written without rhymes. That’s what I try to do too. I do have rhymes in my poem, but these rhymes flow naturally. So I don’t focus on rhyming too much. Check out my work when you get the chance!
