Sunny
By Meher Gandhi
This day is too sunny for my soul.
I’m too eager to welcome the ghouls.
My brain is playing games sans fear,
And I am an enthusiastic player.
I wander until I am lost,
In this forest darker than the night sky.
The roses are covered in frost,
All I seek are the thorns.
It isn’t a nightmare,
Nor is it an exaggeration.
It is all raw and bare,
Like the deserts dried by the sun.
It was moments ago,
That my desert was a rainforest.
It was all about the cheer,
Bliss and glory seemed to be near.
But, when did the stage change?
Where did the flower paths disappear?
What now awaits me is the dark alley,
No more is there any boundary.
Never knew I was on the top of the ride,
The one that makes you touch the sky,
And plunges you deeper into the sea.
This ride promises me hurricane and tide.
This desert is a part of me,
These mirages are my only homes.
I shall see each sandune with glee,
I must love these paths I roam.
I do not await the rain,
Even though I’ll welcome it,
With my face towards the heavenly drops,
And towards the vanishing sun.
