☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
This book is about love and how the word in itself can take various shapes.
This book is a story about the creation, maintenance, and evolution of relationships- be it the one between siblings or future partners or simply friends.
‘Give Your Heart A Break’ by Anuj Tiwari narrates a beautiful story involving Addya, her brothers Agastya and Arjun, and many other wonderful characters like Tarjani and Mrs. Dimpy. These characters come together, carrying the loads of their own varied life stories, and try to mend each other by bringing the broken pieces together- an idea that is very much encouraged in the book.
Addya, the elder sister of Agastya, is a girl with dreams and a heart of gold. She envisions a beautiful life that she wishes to spend with a man who promises to treat her like a queen. But, Addya’s dreams are shattered and she is forced into an abusive relationship. To her dismay, Addya’s husband is not keen on treating her like a queen. Instead, as the author has said it, he turns his wife into a “damsel in distress”.
Some of my favourite characters include Arjun, Agastya, Tarjani, and Dimpy aunty. These characters, I feel, are very intricately designed.
I LOVE the title of this book and also the whole vibe of the cover! I like the story in its whole and how it expresses the beauty of relationships and the understanding that is required to maintain them. I like how the characters feel real; the author has been successful in making the characters come to life. The author has also made use of good vocabulary that makes the book a rich read.
I could only find one typing error in this book. I do feel that the transition between a few scenes could have been smoother.
I recommend this book to those who are looking for a fresh read that has a unique storyline. I also recommend it to those who would like to read about how relationships are nurtured with given circumstances and to those who like the family-drama genre.
The author of this book told me that if I have a sibling, I would love this book and well, he’s absolutely right!
