Been A Year

It’s been a year
Since I saw the lights on the top
The ones that would blink
And make my heart stop
with fear
That they won’t light up again.
But, they would. And I would.

Been a year
Since I saw the roads lead me to
Places I really wanted to go to,
Usually ending at dead ends.

It’s been a year
Since I made
A ‘resolutions-to-be-broken’ list
That I always fulfilled.

Been a year,
Since I went to the sunflower gardens
And dreamt about building a flower house
I would water and grow
With a sign that would read:
‘No roses allowed’.

Been a year
Since I’ve felt
Comfortable with
Abrupt endings.
