Would You?
By Meher Gandhi
When my soul will find home in your arms,
Would you listen to my heart beat
And count the drum beats?
Would you remember the yellow seats,
And green tables with scribbled notes that greeted us first when your universe collided with mine?
Would you look out the front but keep your eyes closed
So that you don’t have anything to look at but feel aligned?
Would you take charge and set the sail?
Remind the saints we hail,
That today the shooting star has finally took aim
To reach to us
And burn with our love?
Would you leave the fireplace and guard the doors
To keep us away from all the dirt of unlove and unfaith?
All the evils untamed?
Would you know that it is in this moment that the Earth was born
The first drop of rain that landed on our heads
The first time the Sun shone?
That this moment will lead us to heavenly clouds
That are made of our tears of joy
Those which will burst the second we faint?
Would you paint
The sky with me in colours we want?Would you cross the bridge
To build a treehouse with me
And carve ‘love’ in the most beautiful font?
Would you not fall
But rise with me
In love?
I am so I excited to know what you guys think about this one! I don’t write this kind too often but, sometimes I’m on a spree. Did you like reading ‘Would You?’? Please do let me know what you think about it!

You’re right, this is different to your poems. But I love the thoughts and ideas behind it, and there are some standout lines. I liked the third stanza in particular. Thank you for sharing, Meher!
