A Hundred Miles Away

By Meher Gandhi

A hundred miles away,
Years would’ve been whiled away,
When you’ll see me taking a stroll,
I promise I won’t walk away.
But, today is not the day,
When I run into you,
And pretend it’s all good,
Or maybe bend and tie out of the blue,
The laces that never were untied.
Today is not the day,
I will have you figured it out,
Why I went away,
Why I had so many doubts.

A hundred miles away,
Years would have been passed by,
When I would see you walking up and down,
I promise I won’t run away, I would stay.
But, today is not the day,
When I’ll ignore your running by me,
Today is not the day,
When I feel a hundred pieces shattered,
And still laugh like it isn’t the pain.

A hundred miles away,
Years would’ve been thought about,
When I’d see you standing and smiling,
I promise I won’t blink and go away.
But, today is not the day,
When I’ll return the smile back with eyes,
Shimmering in the daylight,
Today is not the day,
When I tell you that it’s okay.

A hundred miles away,
Years would have taught me things,
When you’d offer to pick the leaves with me,
I promise I will pick and turn them with you.
But, today is not the day,
When I find the best in the bad.
Today is not the day,
When you’ll see me smiling,
With tears in my eyes and my love on your way.

A hundred miles away,
Years would’ve felt like moments,
When you’d come and look at the sky,
I promise I will look up with you.
But, today is not the day,
When you’ll see me wishing to the shooting star.
Today is not the day,
When I’ll see the sunset and moonrise with you.

For the everlasting burn,
It keeps me away,
From the cool of forgiveness,
From sympathy’s turn.
But, a hundred miles away,
Years would have seemed like days,
I shall tell you what I wrote for you,
And you shall dance the words for me,
I promise I won’t shy away.

Hello to all the readers and writers out here! I am Meher Gandhi. I am a dreamer and a wanderer, dreaming of a world made of words and wandering in a land of my own scribblings. I am constantly scribbling my reveries and all the secrets I unearth while living, sometimes it’s on paper, most of the times, it’s mental notes. WordPress is a great platform to showcase the art of writing be it on the spot or else. I am loving this work of writing blogs, reading your blogs, commenting on them, receiving the likes, comments and valuable suggestions. It is all so fun! I am a teenager who loves to read and write. I am a positive person and so are my scribblings. If you want to connect with me then, head over to the contact page in the “my pages” section! Would you like to join me in for a walk in my land of scribblings? With love, Meher.

Seriously if I had a choice of getting into someone’s brain to study how it worked and what triggers all the thoughts in them, it would definitely be “YOU!” Your writings are so beautiful and engaging… I always look forward for your post, and after reading, I am certain it cannot get better than this but every time I am swept off by the new one… thank you so much dear for constantly giving fodder to my brain and heart… stay blessed always !
